Logopaedist Day at the University of Wrocław in March
On 8 March at the UWr Institute of Polish Studies will host a conference on the occasion of Logopaedist Day. It is addressed to all those interested in the issues of contemporary speech therapy.
The whole event ties in with European Speech-Language Therapy Day, a signature event of the European Speech and Language Therapy Association (ESLA) and celebrated since 2004. To mark the occasion, speech therapists organise various charitable and popular events during the first week of March to spread awareness of speech and language disorders and to draw attention to the need to recognise them promptly and to undertake speech therapy. They also emphasise the importance of prevention in this area.
The main organisers of the Logopedic Day at the UWr Institute of Polish Studies, dr Lucyna Kościelniak and dr Gabriela Dragun, prepared an interesting programme, which refers to the dynamically developing neurological knowledge of the importance of integrating our senses: touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing in the development of communication skills at every stage of life.
The conference will also feature a screening of the documentary ‘When I Stutter’, directed by John Gomez. Its screening will be followed by a discussion with invited guests – adults with experience of stuttering and balbutologists. The whole of this part of the event will be moderated by mgr Aleksandra Boroń.
During the coffee break, the event participants will have the opportunity for an inspiring conversation with guests interested in speech therapy. It will also be an opportunity to make new contacts within the community of theoreticians, practitioners and students of speech therapy.
