Prof. dr hab. Stanisław Staśko passed away
We deeply regret to inform you that on May 13th, 2025, the late prof. dr hab. Stanisław Staśko passed away at the age of 70.
From 1978 to 2024, prof. Stanisław Staśko was professionally connected to the Institute of Geological Sciences at the University of Wrocław. From 2002 to 2006, he performed a function of the head of the Institute of Geological Sciences, whereas from 2006 to 2012, he was a dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management. Prof. dr hab. Stanisław Staśko was also an active member of multiple international and domestic assemblies and organisations, including the American Geophysical Union, the International Association of Hydrogeologists, the Polish Geological Society, and the Institute of Geological Sciences PAS. Furthermore, he was a Chairman of the Polish National Committee of the International Association of Hydrogeologists. The Professor’s academic achievement has found its reflection in more than 160 original works, 6 big projects, 14 sheets of hydrogeological maps of Poland, numerous documentations, and hydrogeological expert opinions. Participation in many foreign practices has allowed Professor to gain experience essential to create the Department of Basic Hydrogeology team, which has been managed by him for 22 years. His educational involvement has resulted in the promotion of 13 doctors and 83 degree candidates. Prof. dr hab. Stanisław Staśko has been decorated with the Silver Cross of Merit, the Silver Medal of the University of Wrocław, the Medal of the Vietnamese Academy of Sciences and National Education Commission.
A great scientist, a teacher of many generations of hydrogeologists, a wonderful man and friend has passed away.

The Holy Mass for the soul of the deceased prof. Stanisław Staśko will be said on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at 15:00 o’clock in the Parish Church at the ul. Boguszowska 84 (Stabłowice). The obsequies will begin after the Holy Mass in the Parish Cemetery in Marszowice.
