Final Gala of the 3rd edition of Universiada

On Wednesday, 28 May, the Faculty of Chemistry will host the Final Gala of the 3rd edition of Universiada – a competition for young scientists.

Universiada is a contest aimed at students in grades -–8 from primary schools in Lower Silesia. Participants work in teams to choose a topic, conduct a scientific project and prepare a report. The best teams are then invited to the Gala, where they present their projects in any format they choose to a panel of judges and the public (admission is free). The judges, representing the organiser – the Wrocław branch of the Association of Chemical Industry Engineers and Technicians, the partner – the University of Wrocław, and the sponsor – PPG, will select the top projects. The grand prize is 5,000 PLN for the winning team. The competition is held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the University of Wrocław.

The creativity of young people knows no bounds – the projects presented during the previous two editions of Universiada covered the entire spectrum of chemistry. From changes in plant colouration depending on soil pH to fuel blends for steam engines, from food spherification for astronauts to new materials intended to replace plastics, at the Universiada Gala, you can truly see it all.

Participants will present their projects in the Faculty’s main hall between 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. At 2:00 p.m., the winners will be officially announced, highlighted by a lecture by dr Justyna Zeler titled “Luminescencja wokół nas.”

Reports, photos, and videos from previous editions can be found on the project’s website and Facebook page. Information has also been posted on our website.
