Seminar (Nie)pamięć i zapomnienie w muzyce
On Friday, 6 June, the seminar seminar (Nie)pamięć i zapomnienie w muzyce will take place at the Institute of Musicology, organised in cooperation between the UWr Institute of Musicology, the Institute of Musicology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the journal Res Facta Nova, and the Polish Music Publishing House. The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be held at the UWr Institute of Musicology, ul. Szewska 36, Room 208, 2nd floor.
The seminar is held under the academic direction of dr Ewa Schreiber from the Institute of Musicology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, editor-in-chief of Res Facta Nova; dr Ryszard Lubieniecki from the Institute of Musicology at the University of Wrocław; and dr Sławomir Wieczorek, also from the UWr Institute of Musicology, who serves as deputy editor-in-chief of Res Facta Nova.
This time, the aim of the seminar is not the — otherwise vital to musicological practice — restoration of forgotten works, figures or movements. Instead, the focus is on reflecting upon the very mechanisms of forgetting in music – their forms and selected dimensions (aesthetic, social, political, gender-related, as well as cognitive). The programme includes 14 papers delivered by scholars from Katowice, Poznań, Wrocław, Toruń, Warsaw, and Palermo. The organisers plan to continue the initiative next year in Poznań as a manifestation of the ongoing collaboration between the Institutes of Musicology in Poznań and Wrocław.
