13 May 2025 – Copernican Revolution Studio, Copernicus Science Centre – Warsaw

Inauguration of the International Scientific Conference BEYOND LANGUAGE 2025

On 13 May 2025, the research-based and experimental opening of the next edition of the International Scientific Conference BEYOND LANGUAGE 2025 took place at the Copernican Revolution Studio in the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. The conference has been organised for several years by the College of Interdisciplinary Individual Studies at the University of Wrocław in cooperation with prestigious universities in Poland and abroad.

“I am enough of the artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” Albert Einstein

OBSERVATION [1]

At the Copernicus Science Centre, the ideas of the designers of the exhibited artifacts are simplified to the level of experiences. The idea behind the BEYOND LANGUAGE workshops was to simplify ideas so that they could be translated into a multisensory experience.

“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” Albert Einstein

OBSERVATION [2]

The fact that the nature, culture, and science that surround us do not always lead from point A to point B by the simplest route only speaks well of them. Visitors to the Copernicus Science Centre can follow their own paths—there are no guides or marked trails—everything is meant to inspire. Regardless of which institute we come from or which department we work in, we can have fruitful conversations and collaborate with each other.

“The only proof that extraterrestrial intelligence exists is that they are not contacting us.”

OBSERVATION [3]

The cosmos and all its elements teach humility. Just because we cannot see a phenomenon does not mean that it does not exist. Based on the fact that someone does not visit us, we cannot conclude that they do not exist at all.

“I very rarely think in words at all. A thought comes, and I may try to express it in words afterwards.” Albert Einstein

OBSERVATION [4]

We do not need to use words alone. Creativity comes from being open to the workings of many senses, sometimes even contrary to prevailing customs, fashions, and beliefs. A creative and exploratory person is usually not fully understood by their contemporaries, as they are able to free themselves from the rut of narrow thinking. The future belongs to those who have the courage to think for themselves and who defend their own beliefs for the common good—if only for future generations—we could say: “Thank you, Leonardo!”

“When the conventional wisdom of physics seemed to conflict with an elegant theory of his, Einstein was inclined to question that wisdom rather than his theory, often to have his stubbornness rewarded.” Walter Isaacson (2007)

THE AUTHOR OF THE OBSERVATIONS is Piotr P. Chruszczewski

QUOTES FROM Albert Einstein are taken from Walter Isaacson’s book (2007) Einstein: His Life and Universe, translated from English by Jarosław Skowroński.
