Forum of European University Alliances in Wrocław
The University of Wrocław will host the third edition of the Forum of European University Alliances, which will take place on 12-13 June 2025 at the Library of the University of Wrocław, located at ul. Fryderyka Joliot-Curie 12.
This prestigious event, held under the Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic of Poland in the Council of the European Union, will bring together representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament, higher education institutions, and members of 65 European University Alliances, representing over 570 universities from across Europe.
Speakers at the opening of the conference will include:
- Marcin Kulasek, Minister of Science and Higher Education,
- Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, Director-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture at the European Commission,
- Professor Patrycja Matusz, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation at the University of Wrocław, who also serves as the Minister’s Plenipotentiary for European Affairs and the EU Presidency.
The Forum will focus on key topics such as the role of university alliances in transforming higher education, shared challenges and best practices within the European Universities Initiative (EUI), and the future of education – including the European degree and joint programmes. Participants will also discuss strategic directions for the development of the “Union of Skills” initiative, which aims to foster future-ready competences. A significant part of the agenda will address the long-term funding of the EUI, university cooperation with socio-economic stakeholders, and the advancement of innovation. Special attention will be given to student engagement in alliance governance and their role in the internationalisation of higher education.
The event will be accompanied by unique initiatives aimed at strengthening the academic community, including a concert by the University of Wrocław’s International Student Orchestra, scheduled for 12 June at 6:30 PM at Concordia Design on Słodowa Island, as well as a networking session for students and alliance members in the green space adjacent to the University Library.
The Forum will serve not only as an opportunity to exchange experiences and deepen inter-university cooperation, but also as a space for reflection on the future of European higher education and the roles of students, researchers, and policymakers in shaping an innovative, inclusive, and resilient European Knowledge Area. We warmly invite you to follow the event coverage and actively take part in the discussion on the future of higher education in Europe!
