StRuNa Award for Student Scientific Association of Geologists!
The University of Wrocław’s Student Scientific Association of Geologists received an award in the “Project of the Year” category in the national Scientific Associations competition – StRuNa.
The project titled “Poszukiwanie, separacja oraz analiza składu chemicznego i fazowego miejskich mikrometeorytów” (eng. Search, separation, and analysis of chemical and phase composition of urban micrometeorites) was submitted by a member of the association as early as October. But they didn’t expect to win due to the tough competition, as they modestly admitted.
There were a total of 217 entries from all over Poland, but only 26 projects made it to the final.
The project of the Student Scientific Association of Geologists was presented in the hall of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw on November 18th, during the final of the StRuNa competition. All the projects were presented in front of the jury, who were deciding on the winner of the award and, most importantly, the main prize.
The project of the University of Wrocław was splendidly presented by a student of the third year of Geological Engineering, Michał Maciak. It was an extremely difficult task due to the 500-second time limit for the presentation. Showcasing all the essential and interesting elements of the micrometeorites-related operations in such a short time was a real challenge.
As the members of the association reported, competitive projects were incredible – very creative and required a lot of knowledge, as well as devotion of a great amount of time. Winning brought a lot of joy to the geologists. They also emphasize that they are proud of Michał, who managed to present the result of their months-long work to the jury interestingly.
They also pointed out that even though winning the StRuNa award is a big success for them, it is not the maximum of their capabilities. The Student Scientific Association of Geologists is working vigorously and is further developing the awarded project.
According to the young geologists, new concepts of projects and trips that bring them joy and, at the same time, surprise the world with their ideas are constantly showing up.
We invite you to follow the Student Scientific Association of Geologists on Facebook and Instagram!
We sincerely congratulate on the win and wish you further scientific successes!
