
Conference at the Institute of German Studies
In September, the Institute of German Studies at the University of Wrocław hosted the tenth anniversary edition of the three-day international academic conference series ‘Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław’.
The theme of the conference was: Quo vadis, germanistische Linguistik? – Aktuelle Fragestellungen und Forschungsfelder.
The event was organised by the Department of Applied Linguistics, the Department of German Language and the German Linguistics Scientific Association. The Adapa Foundation and the Atut Publishing House were partners of the conference.
The conference was officially opened by prof. Marcin Cieński, Dean of the Faculty of Letters, prof. Tomasz Małyszek, Director of the Institute of German Studies and prof. Joanna Szczęk, Head of the Department of Applied Linguistics at the UWr Institute of German Studies, co-organiser of the conference.
This year’s edition of the conference was attended by 93 scientists from 13 countries around the world. Eight plenary lectures and 69 papers were presented in 15 thematic sections.
The plenary lectures were given by: prof. Janusz Taborek (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań), prof. Georg Schuppener (St. Cyril and Methodius University in Trnava), prof. Ernest W. B. Hess-Lüttich (Technical University of Berlin), prof. Heinz-Helmut Lüger (University of Koblenz-Landau), prof. Norbert Richard Wolf (University of Würzburg), prof. Csaba Földes (University of Erfurt), prof. Martne Dalmas (Sorbonne University) – lecture as part of the IDUB UWr visiting professorship – and prof. Joanna Szczęk (University of Wrocław).
The next, eleventh edition of the conference is planned for 2027.
