Lower Silesian Congress of Young Explorers
On Tuesday 16 September, the Lower Silesian Congress of Young Explorers will begin – a unique two-day event aimed at secondary school pupils with an interest in mathematics, computer science and artificial intelligence.
At the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Wrocław, 150 pupils from almost 30 schools across Lower Silesia and the surrounding area will come together. Participants will have the opportunity to attend three lectures delivered by distinguished academics, as well as take part in workshops where they will solve problems independently.
During the sessions, they will learn, among other things, how to read and present data, how to break ciphers, and “what is precise about language”. They will also practise programming agents (bots) in coding games. Beyond the lecture hall, participants will join a city game, and in the evening they will be able to socialise during a board-game night.
The Congress is co-organised by the Wrocław Mathematicians’ Foundation and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Wrocław.
The project is made possible through funding from the Minister of National Education under the “Explorers” programme and the support of Jane Street.
The September Congress is the first in a series of events planned within this project for the upcoming school year.
More information is available on the Congress website.
