
Lecture by professor Mary P. Erdmans at the Historical Institute
The Historical Institute invites you to a lecture by Professor Mary P. Erdmans from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio (USA), entitled A Rebellious Generation: Activism over the Life Course of Return Solidarity Refugees. The lecture will take place on Monday, 20 October, at 12:30 p.m. at the Historical Institute at ul. Szewska 49, Room 322.
Professor Erdmans is visiting the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences as part of the IDUB Visiting Professors Programme.
Bio
Professor Mary P. Erdmans is a sociologist currently preparing a book devoted to return migrants from the Solidarity emigration from the United States to Poland. She is the author of Opposite Poles: Immigrants and Ethnics in Polish Chicago, 1976–1990; The Grasinski Girls: The Choices They Had and the Choices They Made; and On Becoming a Teen Mom: Life Before Pregnancy (with Tim Black). Her literary essays have appeared in the Los Angeles Review and the North American Review. She is a member and former president of the Polish American Historical Association.
