The Non-Foreign Literature Festival: 3rd edition

Krzysztof Bielecki was born – as he says – on a Thursday, and had his debut in the “Nowy Wyraz” journal. He’s a columnist in a periodical Twórczość. The author of books: Fistaszek (publ. Czytelnik), Nie ma czarów, nie ma aniołów (publ. Iskry), End and Fin Company (publ. Akapit), Gagatek (publ. Tunia), Przepaść (publ. Tunia), Nóż (publ. PIW), Zsunęła się z krzesła. Ciennik (publ. PIW). A winner of several literary awards: Wyspański Award, Piętak Award, Gall Award, “Fundusz Literatury” Award. His works have been translated into German, Croatian and Slovenian.

Olga Czernikow – a translator, editor, and literary scholar. In 2019-2020, the chief editor of Książkowe Klimaty publishing house. She translated books of Jan Balabán, Vladimír Binar, Tereza Boučková, Radka Denemarková, Vladimír Macura, Petr Rákos and Sylva Fischerová. She was nominated for the Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński award in 2021 for her translation of Corvina by Petr Rákos. Since 2016, she’s been a jury member in a translating contest of Susanna Roth, and in 2020-2023 she was a mentor in an international programme Connecting Emerging Literary Artists (CELA). Currently, she works at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the University of Wrocław.

Jakub Kornhauser – a poet, essayist, translator and literary scholar. An assistant professor on the Faculty of Philology of the Jagiellonian University, where he is a co-founder and member of the Avant-Garde Centre of Scholarship. An author of eight poetry books (the latest Lata z jamnikiem, 2024), four essay books (the latest Lotne finisze, 2023), three avant-garde monographs (the latest Surrealizm i po surrealizmie, 2022). He translated or co-translated books of Gherasim Luca, Henri Michaux, Gellu Naum, and Miroljub Todorović, and edited a few poetry anthologies (the latest Żeby ten wiersz był pudełkiem zapałek. Obiektywizm z polskiej poezji, 2023), and over a dozen of academic books. He’s an editor of academic and literary journals, as well as a few book series, for example avant-garde/revisions (Jagiellonian University Publishing). A winner of Wisława Szymborska Award and “Znaczenie” Award. A jury member of “Gdynia” Literary Award.

Rafał Majerek – a Slavic and Slovak philologist, a Doctor of Philosophy in literary studies, an assistant professor at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Jagiellonian University. An author of many academic papers dedicated to questions of Slavic national and cultural identity, the latest Slovak prose, the Slovak drama after 1989, and Polish-Slovak literary circles. Currently, he’s conducting a research on emancipatory movements in Slovak culture and literature, mainly on feminism. He’s a member of the Polish-Slovak Commission for the Humanities, the Polish-Slovak Commission of Historians, and the Committee of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Cracow. He works with the Institute of Slovak Literature, the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Central European Studies of the University of Presov.

Paweł Orzeł (b. 1985 in Madrid) – a writer, Spanish translator, art historian. A managing editor in the State Publishing Institute PIW since September 2017, and a prose editor in Twórczość periodical since May 2025. He translated poetic books of Francisco Javier Navarro Prieto, Rosa Berbel, Chantal Maillard, María Elena Higueruelo, Pilar Adón and Almudena Sánchez.

Jakub Skurtys – a doctor, critic and literary historian, an assistant professor at the University of Wrocław. An author of four books on the latest poetry and a few poems. He conducts academic research on the avant-garde literature.

Anna Wanik – an alumna of philosophy, a Bohemian philologist and a Czech literature translator. A scholar of CzechLit (2017, 2019) and of the Union of Stage Authors and Composers ZAiKS (2025). She translated an essay book by Tomáš Kulka Sztuka a falsyfikat (publ. Galeria Miejska, Wrocław 2014), story books by Mark Šindelka: Zostańcie z nami and Mapa Anny (publ. Afera, Wrocław 2016, 2020), an experimental book Wittgenstein: wiadomo, że… by Ladislav Čumba(publ. Iskry, Warsaw 2019), a young-adult novel Transport poza wieczność of František Tichy (publ. EMG, Cracow 20219), a novel W szafie by Tereza Semotamová (publ. Książkowe Klimaty, Wrocław 2022), and a novel Wracz by Martin Ryšavý (publ. KEW, Wrocław 2023). Most recently, she translated chosen literary texts from Jindřich Štyrský’s Wiersze i sny (publ. WPBiCAK, Poznań 2025).

Kamila Woźniak – a Bohemian philologist and literary scholar associated with the University of Wrocław. She published in journals such as Herito, Česká literatura: časopis pro literární vědu, Slovo a Smysl/Word & Sense. An author of three monographs: O literaturze w fotografii. Infrazy czeskie (2022), Wtajemniczenia. Szkice o motywach inicjacyjnych w prozie czeskiej XX wieku (2015); Ladislav Klíma i Stanisław Przybyszewski. W kręgu nihilizmu gnostyckiego (2011). In late 2025, her fourth book published by University of Wrocław, dedicated to Milada Součková’s prose and connection to Prague (“Rozłóżcie plan miasta, wszystko tam jest nakreślone”. Praskie topografie Milady Součkovej).

Agata Wróbel – a Polish and Bohemian philologist, and Czech literature translator (and sometimes of other literatures). She translated books of Anna Bolavá, Lucie Faulerová, Markéta Pilátová and Radka Denemarková. In 2019-2023 she participated in an EU programme CELA (Connecting Emerging Literary Artists) and is a mentor in the current edition.
