We are celebrating the 80th anniversary of the University of Wrocław!
On the 13th and 14th of November, as soon as the dusk falls, the pile of the University will light up in blue!
The beautiful, baroque pile is usually lit up in opal light. However, for the University Day, the Celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Polish University, and the Festival of Science in Wroclaw, the historic pile will light up in blue.
University Azure is the official University’s color present, for instance, in the logo. To light up the building, LED systems and projectors will be used. Thanks to them, the building will be illuminated in blue, but it will also feature projected text reminding us about the 80th anniversary of the Polish University of Wroclaw.
− Every day, we discover the laws governing the world around us, pass on gained knowledge to the next generations, and collaborate with the socio-economic environment. During these important days, we want to point out our presence even more and remind how important it is to cherish our tradition and memory − underlines UWr Rector Prof. Robert Olkiewicz.
But that is not all.
The luminous show will be topped off by Most Uniwersytecki, which will also be lighted up in azure. This way, Wrocław is symbolically plugged into celebrations, emphasizing its strong bonds with science and the academic environment.
− Wrocław is a flesh and blood academic city, full of students, science, and innovations. Thanks to those young people who come here from all over Poland and the world, our city is so open, dynamic, and modern. That is Wrocław, which, beside Warsaw, is, for example, the capital of Polish startups! We proudly accent the beginning of the learning in Polish Wrocław and that symbolic moment, when after World War II future students at the University of Wrocław and Wrocław University of Science and Technology heard their first joint lecture − said Jacek Sutryk, Wrocław’s mayor.

Right after the celebration, there will be an exhibition „Nasi Mistrzowie. 80 lat wrocławskiej Alma Mater” opening in the Museum of the University of Wrocław (Sala pod Filarem) (main building of the University of Wrocław, pl. Uniwersytecki 1)

Celebration of Science in Wrocław – joint meeting of presidents of universities organized in KRUWiO, with awards and doctoral bursaries handed by the mayor of Wrocław.
-15th of November at 10.00

Today at 16.00 , the Concert ’Historia w piosence’, which will begin our celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the University of Wrocław. The Rector of the University of Wrocław, prof. Robert Olkiewicz, invites the University community to that special event.
