Recitals in the Aula Leopoldina

On 7 December at 6.00 pm, recitals by the laureates of this year’s 19th International Chopin Competition will take place in the Aula Leopoldina of the University of Wrocław (Plan Uniwersytecki 1).

At the forthcoming event organised by Chopin Recitals, audiences will hear two outstanding prize-winners of the Chopin Competition. Kevin Chen is a true sensation of the international piano scene. The twenty-year-old Canadian virtuoso won Second Prize at the 19th Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2025, and is also the winner of several major senior piano competitions, including the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv (2023), Concours de Genève (2022), the International Ferenc Liszt Competition in Budapest (2021), and the Hilton Head International Piano Competition in the United States (2020).

Chen has performed with orchestras since the age of seven, when he made his debut with the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra. His collaborations include the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, Hungarian National Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Polish National Philharmonic, and many others.

The second performer of the evening will be Vincent Ong from Malaysia – a highly compelling artistic personality and winner of Fifth Prize at the 19th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw. In 2024 he became the winner of the Robert Schumann International Competition in Zwickau. He also received the Klavierförderpreis Maurice Ravel (2023), and in 2025 was invited to perform at the prestigious Chopin Festival in Nohant, France.

The programme of this Extraordinary Concert, comprising two recitals, will feature deeply moving and exhilarating masterpieces of Frédéric Chopin’s piano music.
