Spatial Economics with the European quality certificate – AESOP Quality Recognition (2025-2031)
The major in Spatial Economics conducted at the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management at the University of Wrocław succeeded on the international stage. The fact that the major received the prestigious AESOP Quality Recognition (QR) certificate for the years 2025-2031 proves that the quality of education realized as part of the programme meets the highest European standards for planning education. Moreover, it corresponds to the modern requirements placed on universities that educate future specialists in the field of spatial planning.
QR & AESOP:
AESOP Quality Recognition (QR) is a European certificate awarded to programmes of education in the field of spatial planning that meet high educational standards defined in the AESOP Chart.
The certificate is awarded by the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP) – an organisation that consociates the best schools of planning in Europe.
Receiving the QR means that the major programme was evaluated by international experts, and its quality, content, and way of educating satisfy the modern European norms for planning education. The certificate is valid for the years 2025-2031.
The certificate is important for several reasons:
- it guarantees education at the European level
- it increases the credibility of the programme for students, employers, and foreign partners
- it distinguishes the UWr from other universities educating in the field of spatial planning
The programme of the bachelor’s studies in Spatial Economics at the University of Wrocław was singled out by the AESOP for:
- Modern technologies used in didactics, such as 3D printing, geoinformatics devices, and creating future scenarios
- Possibility to shape your own path of education thanks to a flexible approach to topics of theses and a choice of research methods
- Interdisciplinary approach to planning that connects technical competences (GIS, analysis of spatial data, CAD) with ecology and social participation
- Strong connection to practice – cooperation with the city of Wrocław, local governments, non-governmental organisations, and the private sector
- Intensive practical training, including field classes, projects based on real challenges on a regional scale, and a three-week internship
- Social Participation Laboratory – a unique space for students to realise projects for local communities, and learn how to lead mediation and dialogues with stakeholders
