Sarah Mebarki, a student at Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne, at IFR UWr as part of the Arqus I double degree programme
Sarah Mebarki, a student from the French partner university Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne, spends the winter semester of the academic year 2025-2026 at the Institute of Romance Studies (IFR) at the University of Wrocław (UWr) within the framework of the agreement “Arqus Multiple Master’s Degree Programme in Translation”.
When asked what particularly encouraged her to choose our university, she replies that at the end of summer 2024, she was delighted by an interview conducted by Kacper Prokop, Arqus Ambassador at the UWr, and registered by Paweł Piotrowski from the UWr Communication Service, which was published on the website of the IFR. In this interview participate three students from the IFR UWr qualified to travel in the winter semester of the academic year 2024-2025 to partner universities in Saint-Étienne and Braga as part of the same double/multiple diploma programme. Actually afterwards, Sarah became friend with one of the interviewed students, Oliwia Skalska.
Sarah currently does six subjects at the UWr (five at the Institute of Romance Studies and one at the Institute of English Studies), taught in three different foreign languages: Cross-cultural pragmatics, Cognitive aspects of the translation process, Variations du français modern, Séminaire de maîtrise, Herramientas de traducción, Lengua española para propósitos académicos. We would like to thank all her teachers: dr Zuznna Bułat-Silva, dr Jacek Woźny, dr Jagoda Cook, dr Patrycja Krysiak, dr Natalia Likus and dr Łukasz Smuga, respectively.
After completing all these subjects at the UWr and meeting the requirements set by her home university in France, Sarah Mebarki will not only receive a master’s degree in “Master Traduction et Interprétation. Parcours Métiers de la Rédaction et de la Traduction”, but also the Polish diploma “Studia romanistyczne-Specjalność translatorska” from the FR UWr. We wish Sarah good luck in this academic endeavour!
