We have an Internationalisation Star!

We are delighted to announce that we have an Internationalisation Star 2026 among us! This prestigious award in the Management Star category has been presented to the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, dr hab. Patrycja Matusz, prof. UWr. Congratulations!

The award was presented in Wieliczka on 29 January during the gala of the conference “International Students in Poland 2026”, organised jointly by the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP), the Jagiellonian University and the Perspektywy Education Foundation as part of the Study in Poland programme.

− Together, every day, we build the international relations of the University of Wrocław − says prof. Patrycja Matusz. − At the University of Wrocław we continue to increase mobility numbers and the Erasmus+ budget, develop activities within the Arqus Alliance with the support of NAWA, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange grants, expand Blended Intensive Programmes, joined the Coimbra Group as only the second university after the Jagiellonian University, organised the Forum of European University Alliances, launched 100 new research projects, continue with enthusiasm to implement the IDUB programme, are finalising preparations for new joint degree programmes and that is not all; the list could go on much longer. Of course, none of this would be possible without the commitment of all employees of the University of Wrocław, for which I would like to express my sincere thanks − emphasises Vice-Rector Patrycja Matusz.

This is already the ninth edition of this prestigious distinction, whose mission is to identify, reward and promote individuals with outstanding achievements in activities supporting the internationalisation of Polish higher education institutions.

This year, professor Patrycja Matusz received the award in the Management Star category.

That internationalisation is a dynamic area at the University of Wrocław is evidenced by the number of projects, events and grants, a summary of 2025 confirms this. The news from just a few days ago about the University’s rise by more than 30 places in the third edition of the QS World University Rankings: Europe further strengthens our conviction that our strengths include not only the quality of teaching and employer reputation, but also international exchange.

The Internationalisation Stars award is intended for individuals with outstanding achievements in activities supporting the internationalisation of Polish higher education institutions, in particular academic staff working in international relations offices, promotion and recruitment units, dean’s offices and other administrative units, as well as members of university management, including institutional leadership.

The award recognises those who, through their work, commitment, achievements, experience and skills, play a particularly significant role in shaping the internationalisation of Polish higher education.

Candidates are nominated by university authorities and organisations involved in internationalisation, as well as by academic staff, students and doctoral candidates.

In the 2026 edition, awards were presented in a total of ten categories.

The laureates were selected by a Chapter composed of representatives of institutions and organisations engaged in the development of the internationalisation of Polish higher education and research, under the patronage of the Chair of KRASP, Professor Bogumiła Kaniewska, who serves as the Honorary Chair of the Chapter.

Professor Patrycja Matusz was nominated for the award by professor Dorota Piotrowska, Director of the Centre for International Cooperation at Lodz University of Technology.

More information about the award is available on its dedicated website.
