UWr and the Police partnership in fighting cybercrime
The aim of the agreement signed between the University of Wrocław and CBZC (Central Cybercrime Bereau) on 15 April was to set new standards of fighting cybercrime.
The agreement was signed by the Rector prof. Rafał Olkiewicz and insp. Michał Pudło, deputy Commander in Chief of CBZC to seal the already ongoing partnership.
The agreement promises multi-layered cooperation, combining education, science and practice related to cybersecurity. The close partnership between the academic staff and CBZC officers fighting cybercrime directly can lay the foundations for the creation of new specialisations and postgraduate studies at the University of Wrocław.
The partnership between the academic community and law enforcement agencies is becoming key in the modern reality of increasing dangers online. That is why the agreement enables joint ventures. “It’s not only conferences, workshops, trainings and lectures conducted by CBZC officers – prof. Robert Olkiewicz highlights – but also prevention”.
“In fighting cyberviolence it is vital to prevent such phenomena, for example, by efforts promoting safe behaviours online addressed to students and others” – says insp. Michał Pudło.
“The pillars of the agreement are education, science, and prevention – research projects, innovative solutions in criminology and security sciences” – adds prof. Jacek Przygodzki, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics.
