“Diaspora in an interdisciplinary perspective” – conference

Interdisciplinary Research Club, operating at the MSI College of the University of Wrocław will hold a National Academic Conference of Diaspora in interdisciplinary perspective on 18th of May.

“The concept of diaspora, traditionally refers to the dispersion of the Jewish people, but in contemporary research reflection it actually goes even further – not only in the literal sense of the dispersion of given folk, but also in the context of creating new hybrid forms of belonging of a dynamic nature. What we try to do is to focus on examining diasporas as entities that evolve and intermingle are not only “extensions” of its countries of origin. Diaspora is perceived as individual, different being between/both/neither” say the organisers.

Research areas:

  • Diaspora and post-memory and post-trauma, identity in conditions of dual belonging, art created in diasporic environments
  • Diaspora from the perspective of host countries,
  • Diasporic urban topography
  • Diaspora in technological progress, new forms of community, returns, re-emigrations, ideas and expectations towards homeland
