Social Responsibility Office
The Social Responsibility Office works under the supervision of dr Kamila Kamińska-Sztark, the Rector’s Representative for Social Responsibility. The Office initiates and maintains cooperation with the social and economic environment in line with social responsibility. The cooperation developed is multifaceted, involving both the University community and the adult population of Lower Silesia as well as children and young people.
Social responsibility initiatives undertaken so far include:
- The Tower of Generations Project, which was financed by NCRD, was attended by approximately 300 children from Lower Silesian villages. They participated in the cultural and educational life of Wrocław under the supervision of senior-apprentice teams and methodological advisors.
- The ‘University under a cloud’ project, funded by Gmina Wrocław (Municipality of Wrocław), in which the University acted as a partner, consisted in promoting science through the organisation of holiday workshops for children aged 6-12, referring to 10 faculties of the University of Wrocław.
- Supporting students in the organisation of student internships in pandemic time – establishing cooperation with numerous non-governmental organisations to which students were referred.
- A project to support children and young people to learn remotely in an age of pandemics, in which, through networking with schools and parents, around 120 mentees were recruited to work in student-child tandems to support their learning and development in line with the ‘big brother – big sister’ method.
- Cooperation with Książ Castle in Wałbrzych.
- Cooperation with School of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners at the University of Wrocław, Mayor’s Plenipotentiary for Residents of Ukrainian Descent – Olga Chrebor, representatives of WCDN, WCRS and school staff in the field of intercultural dialogue in Wrocław.
- Activities involving on-site visits in connection with the design of Procedure No. 3 on architectural accessibility of University of Wrocław facilities for persons with disabilities as part of the project implementation: “UWr a fully accessible university by 2023”.
