Agreement signed – Erasmus+ InnHUB Wrocław launched

The Erasmus+ InnHUB Innovation Centre is being established in Wrocław. The main task of the centre will be to popularise and promote the offer of Wrocław universities, the European University initiative and educational mobility. The first workshops are planned for June.

The Erasmus+ InnHUB is a cross-sectoral innovation centre that works for European educational programmes and the popularisation of the Erasmus+ offer. In Poland, centres already operate in Kraków, Katowice, Gdańsk, Poznań, Łódź and Lublin. Their main task is to cooperate with institutions – in particular universities, local government units, vocational training centres, schools and businesses.

– At present, all countries in Europe are looking for some kind of method to better promote and use the opportunities of the Erasmus+ programme. Our response to this are the hubs, and this initiative has met with considerable interest in other countries,’ says dr hab. Paweł Poszytek, Director of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, Director of the National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme and the European Solidarity Corps.

The consortium that will create the centre in Wrocław will include seven Wrocław universities, with the Wrocław University of Science and Technology as its host. On Wednesday, an agreement to this effect was signed by:

· prof. Arkadiusz Wójs, rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology,

– prof. Krystian Kiełb, rector of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław,

– prof. Andrzej Kaleta, rector of Wrocław University of Economics,

– prof. Jarosław Bosy, rector of Wrocław University of Life Sciences,

– prof. Wojciech Pukocz, rector of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław,

– prof. Marzena Dominiak, vice-rector for university development strategy of the Piastów Śląskich University of Medical Sciences in Wrocław,

– dr hab. Patrycja Matusz, prof. UWr, vice-rector for projects and international relations at the University of Wrocław.

The Polish Olympians Academy of Physical Education in Wrocław, whose rector, prof. Andrzej Rokita, was also present at Wednesday’s meeting, will soon join the consortium.

The main task of the new centre will be to promote and popularise the offer of Wrocław’s universities related to education, the European University initiative and learning mobility.

The Erasmus+ InnHUB Wrocław will be based in a building at ul. Grunwaldzki 19 and the first training courses and workshops are planned for June.

“We cooperate with Wrocław’s universities on many different projects, and they also benefit from the Erasmus+ programme on a daily basis. The centre under construction is intended to be a platform for integrating and intensifying these activities, and we know that there are many needs. The three Wrocław universities belong to alliances of European universities, and the Erasmus+ programme is the answer to many challenges facing universities,” emphasised dr hab. Paweł Poszytek.

Not only non-governmental organisations, universities and schools, but also businesses and local governments can benefit from the Erasmus+ programme.

Poland is one of the leaders when it comes to spending funds on education. In the first year of the new programme (the 2021-2027 perspective), more than 1,400 institutions have been awarded funds for the implementation of projects, which in total will implement 1,716 initiatives.

“We always join in all initiatives that serve to integrate our community and we believe that Wrocław universities acting together can be even better. As a member of alliances of European universities, access to funds from the Erasmus+ programme is extremely important to us, so we will be heavily involved in the centre’s activities. I believe that it will become a place that will give even more energy to the Erasmus+ programme and make it associated not only with mobility, but also with cooperation with the environment,” said prof. Matusz at the event.
