Arqus Ambassadors at the University of Wrocław
As part of the Arqus Alliance, the Arqus Student Ambassadors programme is being implemented. At the University of Wrocław, 29 ambassadors were selected, representing eight faculties (Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Social Communication and Media Studies, Faculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and Faculty of Pedagogical and Historical Sciences), as well as the College for Interdisciplinary Individual Studies and the Interfaculty Environmental Protection Studies.
The first step in their activities at the University was an integration and information meeting, which took place on Friday, 16 January. Participants had the opportunity to get to know one another better, including through a team-building game of human bingo, and to familiarise themselves with the idea and structure of the Arqus Alliance. The ambassadors were welcomed by Emilia Wilanowska (International Office), Institutional Arqus Coordinator at the University of Wrocław, and Anna Brzostowska (Student and Doctoral Activity Support Section), the University of Wrocław’s representative in the Arqus Student Agora team.
Invited guests also took part in the meeting. Szymon Garus, a student of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics, spoke about his activities in the Arqus Student Council as a representative of the University of Wrocław. Filip Szymański, a student of the Faculty of Social Sciences, presented the project “Human Rights Café – European democracies at the crossroads: which future for human rights?”, which he is implementing at the University of Wrocław in cooperation with other universities as part of the Arqus Student Co-designed Projects competition.
A few days later, on 20 January, ambassadors from the University of Wrocław took part in an international meeting inaugurating the programme, which brought together ambassadors from all member universities of the Alliance. During the meeting, our ambassadors presented Wrocław and the University of Wrocław in an international forum, while also having the opportunity to become better acquainted with our partner institutions. The meeting was chaired by Elena Barbaro from the University of Padua and Filipe Rocha from the University of Minho, leaders of the Arqus Student Agora team.
In the coming months, the ambassadors will participate in webinars and projects designed specifically for them and will actively promote Arqus initiatives among students and doctoral candidates at the University of Wrocław, strengthening their engagement in European academic cooperation.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who applied for the Arqus Student Ambassadors programme this year. The high quality of the applications made the selection process challenging, and the number of submissions was the second highest in this edition of the programme.
We encourage you to follow and take part in future Arqus initiatives.
