Arqus for Ukraine – workshops II edition

A workshop was held at the University of Wrocław on 18-19 April to support the development of academic education in Ukraine. Representatives of universities from Kyiv, Lviv and Chernivtsi took part. This was the second edition of the Solidarity with Ukraine programme, which was made possible thanks to NAWA and MNiSW funding. You will find more information about the first edition HERE. We are excited to announce that this year, representatives from Lviv Polytechnic University also joined us. This means that we had guests from a total of five universities:

  1. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv
  2. Lviv Polytechnic National University
  3. National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”
  4. Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
  5. Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.

We scheduled two different workshops in the programme. One group will receive training on microcredentials — Introduction to Microcredentials: Microcredentials as a tool to changes in the educational system. The workshop, intended for academic and management representatives, aimed to familiarize Ukrainian partner universities with the idea of short-form training and gaining professional qualifications, as recommended by the European Commission.

Representatives from Ukrainian universities’ international cooperation offices and the Arqus Alliance can benefit from the second workshop entitled Arqus International Officer as a leader of changes: Cultural mediations as a tool for building an open academic environment. It aimed to establish and strengthen contacts between the staff of international cooperation offices. Both Ukrainian partners and Arqus University are welcome to attend.

The workshops marked the beginning of our project. Additionally, we’re planning future editions of the Summer School on Democracy in June at the College of Eastern Europe in Wojnowice, and the International Summer School of Karst and Speleology in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland in July 2024. We also intend to organize study visits for employees and doctoral students from Ukrainian universities to the University of Wrocław in the last quarter of 2024.

This meeting was possible thanks to NAWA funding. They were part of a broader cooperation with the Ukrainian side.
