Arqus: UWr representatives at entrepreneurship festival in Leipzig

On 27-29.06.2023, a representation of the University of Wrocław participated in two entrepreneurship festivals in Leipzig organised within the framework of the Arqus European Universities Alliance. Representatives of our University were dr Justyna Czeszejko-Sochacka from the Technology Transfer Centre and fourth-year psychology student, founder and CEO of Integral Solutions Anna Chwalibóg.

The first event was the Born Global Startup Festival aimed at international students planning to expand their startups in Asian markets. The Asian destination can be an interesting alternative to Europe due to its friendly ecosystem and lower business costs. During the festivals, the International Innovators Award was presented for which young entrepreneurs representing the universities of the Arqus alliance applied. The winner was a scientific team from the University of Minho in Portugal, which developed an innovative formula to help treat cancer. Congratulations!

We spent the next two days at the MACHN Festival, an event devoted to start-ups from the worlds of technology, science and culture. In the amazing location of a former cotton mill in Leipzig, we met young entrepreneurs from all over the world. We talked about their ideas for creating and developing their own company. We discussed the difficulties they might be facing and validated them with experienced entrepreneurs, who were the main speakers on the festival stage and who were happy to share their experiences.

During our stay, thanks to our colleagues from the Arqus alliance at the University of Leipzig, we were able to make contact with representatives of a network supporting start-ups. Its scope includes German universities and research institutes as well as academic partners, technology transfer centres, the private sector (banks, venture capitalists) and regional interest groups. This contact will allow our students to establish international cooperation and establish themselves on the German market.
