Arqus: Work package of Communities of Practice visited Wrocław
Researchers from universities affiliated to the Arqus Alliance of European Universities visited Wrocław and the University of Wrocław and took part in the WG03 Communities of Practice meeting. They spent two days in Wrocław.
As the Vice-Rector prof. Patrycja Matusz said: – When I visit Collegium Antropologicum, there are always visitors from Arqus! Indeed, scientists from the member universities of the Arqus Alliance of European Universities are happy to return to Wrocław, and we are very pleased about this. The stay of the Arqus members was, of course, organised by our Arqus Office under the leadership of Emilia Wilanowska. In Wrocław we hosted representatives of the Universities of Vilnius, Graz and Minho, and we also had our people at the meeting – researchers and administrative staff of the University of Wrocław: dr Agnieszka Janik, prof. Katarzyna Kajdanek, Marek Nowakowski.
Communities of Practice are working groups, committees, communities, and other formations that bring people working on common grounds to collaborate. This concept relates to learning theory and involves “systems of collective critical inquiry and reflection focused on building a shared identity and a collective intelligence garnered over time” (Nussbaum-Beach and Hall, 2012). In this sense, CoPs are a key area of collaboration between universities involved in Arqus, and bring together particular activities in respective areas of development. In doing so, they create a network – the social tissue necessary for collective or institutional learning.
Our expert on Communities of Practice is dr Agnieszka Janik, assistant professor in the Department of Early Childhood and Pre-School Pedagogy and coordinator of WG03 at Arqus. We recommend reading the interview with Agnieszka again: https://uwr.edu.pl/en/dr-agnieszka-janik-on-communities-of-practice-as-part-of-arqus/
And, of course, we invite you to view photos from the meeting.
