Millennium Docs Against Gravity, a 10-day celebration of documentary cinema, is fast approaching. Between May 9 and 18, more than seventy documentaries from around the world will be presented at the DCF Cinema. These unforgettable cinematic journeys will be accompanied by meetings with filmmakers, heroes and heroines, as well as other accompanying events.

The sculpture of the gorilla Pussi, the projector head made for the Luftwaffe, professor Rospond’s flashcards, professor Teisseyre’s notes from Lviv, and a 19th-century sewerage map from 1879 are just some of the objects featured in the exhibition “Rzeczy Mówią. Uniwersyteckie historie opowiedziane przedmiotami” (eng. Objects That Speak: University stories told through things), which has been viewed by 69,000 visitors at the University of Wrocław Museum since July 2024.

On 7 May 2025 at 10:15, the Institute of English Studies at the University of Wrocław will host an open lecture organised as part of the IDUB programme. The lecture, entitled “Malinowski and the Eternal Return of the Speaker”, will be delivered by Professor John E. Joseph (University of Edinburgh, Scotland).
