Over a year ago, four of our young scientists were awarded state-funded Academic grants “Perły Nauki II” granted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. We evaluate what has happened throughout this year with their research project.

The year 2025, a jubilee year for UWr, was very intensive in terms of international projects and events.

The University of Wrocław has moved up by more than 30 places in the third edition of the QS World University Rankings: Europe. In the ranking published on 28 January, our University placed 281st among the best higher education institutions in Europe. In Central and Eastern Europe, we rose to 17th place. In Poland, according to QS WUR Europe 2026, we are the fifth-best higher education institution and the fourth-best university.

Nikola Żak chose to study European Diplomacy because she wants, in the future, to be present in the rooms where decisions are made and to have a real impact on improving the world around her. The collections of Teatr Polski in Wrocław will be digitised and made available online. This important project for Polish culture involves the Digitisation and Digital Services Department of the University Library in Wrocław.

As part of the Arqus Alliance, the Arqus Student Ambassadors programme is being implemented. At the University of Wrocław, 29 ambassadors were selected, representing eight faculties (Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Social Communication and Media Studies, Faculty of Biotechnology, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management), as well as the College for Interdisciplinary Individual Studies and the Interfaculty Environmental Protection Studies.

On 12 January 2026, the FOCUSE team, consisting of dr hab. Alicja Krzemińska and dr inż. Anna Zaręba, representing the University of Wrocław – Institute of Geography and Regional Development, appeared on the programme „Eureka” broadcast on the First Programme of Polish Radio (Jedynka), hosted by J. Domaradzki.

In the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026, published on 21 January, as in the previous year, as many as eight disciplines/fields of study at the University of Wrocław were included.
