    Let’s talk about the Lower Silesian Science Festival. Interview with dr Aleksandra Ziober

    In Poland, ticks search most intensively for a host in spring and autumn. The increase in interest in ticks (Ixodida) noted especially in recent decades is primarily related to the ability of these mites to transmit numerous pathogens. It is not without reason that ticks are considered one of the most important carriers of viruses, bacteria and parasites. The biology and ecology of ticks, as well as the pathogens they transmit and the diseases associated with them, are the subject of numerous studies, discussions and questions.

    Not all ticks are the same

    A meeting between the Prime Minister of India and a group of Polish indologists representing four academic centres (UW, UJ, UAM and UWr) where indological studies are conducted took place in Warsaw. The University of Wrocław was represented at this meeting by dr hab. Przemysław Szczurek, prof. UWr, from the Department of Indian Studies (at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies).

    Prof. dr hab. Edward Białek, the historian of literature, and head of the Department of Literature Didactics at the Institute of German Studies, was honoured with the Andreas Gryphius Prize for 2024, awarded for his significant contribution to the promotion of dialogue between Poles and Germans.
