The fourth edition of the international conference of young researchers BEYOND LANGUAGE 2024 is already a thing of the past. This year, speakers from Israel, Romania, Ukraine, Dresden, Ireland, Wrocław, Poznań, Kraków, Olsztyn, Gdańsk and Warsaw met for four days in May at the Jagiellonian University (UJ), the University of Wrocław (UWr), Adam Mickiewicz University (UAM) and online to discuss, among other things: humor, Chinese novels, Georgian verbs, Dongba symbols, the language of poetry, the etymology of words, map grammar, mythical heroes, Homeric comparisons, syncretic cultural forms, interference of worlds and melic translation.

On 11th of May 2024, the 12th charity Bieg Firmowy [eng. Company Run] took place. It was a 5 x 5 kilometers relay. The idea behind the run was to promote a healthy rivalry and physical activity among the employees through running, integration and cooperation within and between companies. Above all, however, it was to contribute to charity for disabled and ill children. The main originator and organiser has been the Everest Foundation.

On 17 May, on the eve of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the capture of Monte Cassino by General Władysław Anders’ soldiers, two representatives of the University of Wrocław paid tribute to the fallen soldiers buried at the Polish War Cemetery on Monte Cassino. Rafał Tomczak from the University Centre for Physical Education and Sport, the initiator of the bicycle rally organised by the Lower Silesian Association of Health Culture and Sport NSZZ ‘Solidarność’, in which he holds the position of president, and Tomasz Kalota – Director of the University Centre for Digital Humanities, a participant in the bicycle rally after running 10 km, reached the Polish War Cemetery on Monte Cassino in the evening hours.
