We invite you to an exhibition showcasing Wrocław’s architectural designs that never saw realization. Inspired by an exhibition organized by the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław titled “Gdyby” (“What If”), we decided to present materials from the collections of the Wrocław University Library. These allow us to see how the city might have looked if the bold ideas of Wrocław’s best visionary architects from the early 20th century had been brought to life.

While conducting research in the Lviv archive, dr Magdalena Gibiec comes across two unusually labeled folders. Intrigued, she borrows them, not yet knowing that this decision will completely change the course of her research and result in a publication by the prestigious academic publisher Routledge.

On 19 April 2024 (online), under the patronage of the dean of the UWr Faculty of Letters, prof. UWr dr hab. Arkadiusz Lewicki, the eighth edition of the National One Novel Competition took place, this time devoted to the novel ‘War with the Newts’ by Karl Čapek. The event, chaired by dr Marcin Maksymilian Borowski, was organised by the Student Scientific Association of Russicists WroSlawians in cooperation with the Department of Russian Literature and Culture at the UWr Institute of Slavic Studies and the Department of Practical Russian Language Teaching at the UWr Institute of Slavic Studies and the Student Scientific Association Ljudi. The One Novel Competition has been held at the University of Wrocław for eight years and has become one of the hallmarks of the Institute of Slavic Studies.

Dr Sandra Kozieł from the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Wrocław was recognised by Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti in the ‘Innovation in Biotechnology’ category during DemoDay organised by Colorado State University. The award was accepted on her behalf by dr hab. Urszula Komarnicka. The award-winning achievement is the subject of a patent currently in preparation between the UWr and Colorado State University, whose authors are: Sandra Kozieł, Urszula Komarnicka, Andrew Bates, Skyler Markham and Debbie C. Crans.
