On 11 December 2024, at 9:00 a.m., the 19th Polish-Belarusian Scientific and Practical Roundtable will be held at the Institute of International and Security Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Wrocław entitled “Edukacja i nauka Białorusi przed wyzwaniem transformacji demokratycznej. Doświadczenia Polski” (eng. “Education and Science of Belarus before the Challenge of Democratic Transformation. Experience of Poland”). The event is co-organised by the City Hall of Wrocław and Wolny Uniwersytet Białorus Foundation.

Who was really the man commonly believed to be St. Nicholas or Santa Claus? What is his true story? Has his image changed over the centuries? During the lecture, prof. dr hab. Leszek Berezowski will talk about the history of St. Nicholas and Santa Claus, his origins and activities, ancient customs, traditions and beliefs, and how the figures of St. Nicholas and Santa Claus has changed over the centuries.

Once again, the UWr Institute of Computer Science will be the organiser of the ICPC Central Europe Regional Contest. From 13 to 15 December, our university will host seventy three-person teams consisting of programming enthusiasts from top universities in Central Europe, who will face complex algorithmic tasks.

On 25-26 November, the National Academic Conference XXXVI Teachers’ Forum took place: PEDAGOGY AND EDUCATION IN ANTHROPOCENCE, organised by the Institute of Pedagogy at the University of Wrocław. The conference was held under the honorary patronage of, among others, His Magnificence Rector of the University of Wrocław, prof. dr hab. Robert Olkiewicz, and the Dean of the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences at UWr, dr hab. Paweł Klint, prof. UWr. Dr Monika Humeniuk of the Institute of Pedagogy provided the scientific direction.
