We talked with professor Jarosław Byrka from the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Wrocław. Prof. Byrka participated in the prestigious FOCS 2024 conference in Chicago at the end of October, presenting his work titled The Bidirected Cut Relaxation for Steiner Tree has Integrality Hap Smaller than 2.

The 12th edition of the National Conference „Local Ethnic and Religious Communities” took place on November 15th, 2024. The Rectors of the universities of Wrocław and Opole cordially invite you to an open session of the College of Rectors of the Universities of Wrocław and Opole, taking place on 15 November in celebration of the Science Festival. A special concert will be held in Wrocław the day before to mark the occasion.

The celebration of the University of Wrocław takes place on November 15. The date is incredibly symbolic both for the university and for our city. On this day, the University inaugurated the first post-war academic year 1945/1946 with a lecture by professor Ludwik Hirszfeld – one of the greatest scholars at the time, known mostly for his achievements in immunology and microbiology. The first rector of the University was Stanisław Kulczyński. The event began the University’s development, with a new academic staff and a new spirit. That marked the beginning of Wrocław’s restoration as a crucial academic and scientific centre in Poland.
In the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024, the University of Wrocław is among the 201-300 world’s top universities in the discipline of psychology. Last year, our position was 401-500.
