The winner of Poland’s most important literary award is not only a graduate, but also holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Wrocław. The award-winning novelist also graduated with a degree in Polish studies from the building at pl. Nankiera. She was also a doctoral student in Polish studies.

Joanna Helios, a PhD in Legal Sciences, is a professor at the University of Wrocław and a legal advisor at the District Chamber of Legal Advisors in Wrocław. Her research interests include violence against children, legal protection of animals, ethics in legal professions, and statutory interpretation. Recently, she was appointed as the Rector’s Representative for protection from harm to minors at the University of Wrocław. Professor Helios talks about the standards of protection of minors at our university.

On 1 October 2024, the Community of Ukrainian Students and Academicians was established within the walls of the University of Wroclaw. WUSA is the first Ukrainian student community during the time of the University of Wrocław, with the aim of integrating Ukrainian students into Polish society. The community took almost a whole year to form, starting its existence with social integration meetings in a small but nevertheless passionate group of Ukrainian students.

Dr Hanna Kędzierska from the UWr Faculty of Modern Languages, Cultures and Literatures has received a grant to carry out research entitled. ‘Wpływ wymowy cudzoziemskiej na przetwarzanie błędów w idiomach: badanie psycholingwistyczne’. She is one of five people from our university to receive an NCN Miniatura grant in the latest September distribution.

The role of consumers in the creation of the phenomenon of deliberate obsolescence will be examined by dr Alicja Sielska, assistant professor at the Department of General Economic Theory of the Institute of Economic Sciences of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at the University of Wrocław.

On 1 October, the Environmental Inauguration of the Academic Year 2024/2025, i.e. the inauguration of all public universities in Wrocław, was held in the Aula Leopoldina of tje University of Wrocław.
