    As part of the IDUB Visiting Professors Programme, the University of Wrocław is pleased to welcome Prof. Nico Carpentier, a media scholar from Charles University in Prague. The Institute of Journalism and Social Communication warmly invites you to attend Prof. Carpentier’s guest lecture during his visit to our university from 11 to 15 May 2025.

    On 10–11 May 2025, the Institute of Slavic Studies at the University of Wrocław will host the workshop component of an event aimed at students open to artistic experimentation and interested in exploring the dialogue between word and image – particularly within the context of Ukrainian themes. Participation is free of charge, but limited to 15 places. The application deadline is Monday, 28 April 2025. The project will culminate in a public presentation and exhibition opening on Wednesday, 4 June 2025.

    The Division of Gravity Theory and Fundamental Interactions at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the University of Wrocław, is pleased to invite you to a public lecture by Professor Jackson Levi Said from the University of Malta, Chair of the COST Action CosmoVerse. The lecture, entitled “Probing New Physics through Novel Machine Learning Techniques”, will take place on Tuesday, 6 May at 3:00 p.m. in Room 60 (Rzewuski Room) at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, at Max Born Square 9.

    A team of scientists from the Department of Physiology and Molecular Neurobiology at the University of Wrocław in collaboration with the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the Wrocław Medical University, has published an extensive review article titled “Cross-Talk Between Cancer and Its Cellular Environment—A Role in Cancer Progression” in the journal Cells. The article was commissioned by the editorial team as part of a special issue entitled “Cell-to-Cell Crosstalk as a Target of Therapies”.

    In Catalonia, the celebration has taken place since 1926. It became a global observance 30 years ago. The patron of the day – April 23rd, the date of Cervantes’ death – has been the subject of two books written by Magdalena Barbaruk, Director of the Institute of Cultural Studies at the University of Wrocław.     With deep sorrow, we announce the death of prof. dr hab. Zygfryd Siwik, who passed away on 17 April 2025. He was born on 18 December 1942 in Klein Daberkow.

    The Department of Ukrainian Studies at the Institute of Slavic Studies invites you to a special event – a meeting with Dr Yuri Shevchuk, a distinguished linguist and scholar of Ukrainian cinema, and senior lecturer at Columbia University in New York. In his lecture, Dr. Shevchuk will explore the role of early Ukrainian cinema from the 1920s in shaping modern national identity. The city as a space of multiculturalism, transformation, and emancipation will serve as a starting point for reflections on film language and the culture of modernism.

    The Artificial Intelligence Olympiad is a competition aimed at students from Polish secondary schools. It also represents a unique opportunity to support young talent – individuals who are just beginning their journey into the world of AI and are eager to expand their knowledge, gain new experiences, and develop their skills at the highest level. The goal of the Olympiad is to promote key knowledge and technologies at the foundation of artificial intelligence. The competition began on February 17, and its first stage has just concluded.
