The Barbarian of the Year (pl. Barbarzyńca Roku ) competition is being held for the second time—or the third, if we count the inaugural edition in 2018. This year, however, it will take place in an entirely new format, as a nationwide event. The aim of the competition is to bring together archaeology students from across Poland who are interested in the archaeology of the Barbaricum. An additional component of the event will be a conference in which participants will present papers related to their interests, degree theses, and more. The highlight of the programme, scheduled for the end of the day, will be the grand finale of the competition, conducted in the style of the television quiz show “1 of 10”. It is during this finale that we will discover the first national Barbarian of the Year.
