Last weekend (5-7 December), the University of Wrocław hosted the Central European Regional Contest of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). The competition brought together 70 three-person teams from Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Poland, all competing for qualification to the World Finals, which will be held for the fiftieth time this year.
On Friday, 5 December, a special event entitled “Nauka na Fali – GeoArctic Expedition 2025” was held in the Professor A. Mycielski Lecture Hall at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław. The meeting brought together nearly 300 secondary school pupils, university students, academic staff, and enthusiasts of sailing and science. Through a premiere screening of documentary films, participants were transported to the harsh and captivating landscapes of the Arctic.

By decision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the strategic importance of ACTRIS for science and public policy has been confirmed: from the high quality of the research conducted, through open access to data, to support for innovation in the fields of air quality and climate change adaptation. As a result, ACTRIS maintains its position on the Polish Research Infrastructure Map as a nationwide infrastructure for aerosol, cloud and trace gas research.

Mateusz Strzelecki, head of the Department of Geomorphology at the Institute of Geography and Regional Development of the University of Wrocław, and director of the Alfred Jahn Cold Regions Research Centre.
