    The 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to a South Korean writer, Han Kang. Dr Hae Sung Lee from the Korean team at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies believes this is a sign that Korea is transforming from a cultural power into a truly culturally rich nation.     The fourth edition of the Melodies of Three Generations concert, which took place on 6 October at the Oratorium Marianum, is behind us. The event was organised by the Institute of Slavic Studies, the Centre for Culture and the Arts in Wrocław – a cultural institution of the Lower Silesian Provincial Government, the UWr Centre for Student and Doctoral Activities and the UWr International Cooperation Office.

    On 1 October, the Environmental Inauguration of the Academic Year 2024/2025, i.e. the inauguration of all public universities in Wrocław, was held in the Aula Leopoldina of tje University of Wrocław. The inaugural speech was delivered by the Rector of the University of Wrocław, prof. dr hab. Robert Olkiewicz, Chairman of the Collegium of Rectors of Wrocław and Opole Universities.

    On May 24th, the opening of the photo exhibition titled “Little Essen: A Polish-German Place of (Non-)Memory” by Prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz will take place at the Ravensbrück Memorial Site. The pretext for organizing the exhibition is the meeting of the Polish-German Textbook Commission, established under the auspices of the UNESCO commissions in Poland and Germany in 1972. The organizers of the exhibition are: the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media, the Georg Eckert Institute, the Willy Brandt Center for German and European Studies at the University of Wrocław, the University of Wrocław itself, and DAAD.

    Mgr Piotr Hildt – teatrolog, krytyk teatralny – został członkiem Komisji Artystycznej Ogólnopolskiego Konkursu na Wystawienie Polskiej Sztuki Współczesnej, organizowanego przez Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego oraz Instytut Teatralny im. Zbigniewa Raszewskiego w Warszawie.

    Mgr Piotr Hildt, theatrologist and drama critic, entered the Artistic Commission of the National Competition for the Exhibition of Polish Contemporary Art organized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute.

    On 20 March 2024 at 6.00 p.m., a Charity Concert “We play for Sebastian” organised by the Faculty of Letters of the University of Wrocław will take place at the Oratorium Marianum.
