UL: Popularisation of science
Thirty-three research groups, six awards with a total value of PLN 13,000, and countless activities, exhibits, mini-games, quizzes and attractions – all of this could be experienced on 4 December, when the everyday greyness and autumn drizzle were swept away by the largest and most colourful event dedicated to the student research groups of the University of Wrocław: the Scientific Associations Fair.
Last weekend (5-7 December), the University of Wrocław hosted the Central European Regional Contest of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). The competition brought together 70 three-person teams from Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Poland, all competing for qualification to the World Finals, which will be held for the fiftieth time this year.
On Friday, 5 December, a special event entitled “Nauka na Fali – GeoArctic Expedition 2025” was held in the Professor A. Mycielski Lecture Hall at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław. The meeting brought together nearly 300 secondary school pupils, university students, academic staff, and enthusiasts of sailing and science. Through a premiere screening of documentary films, participants were transported to the harsh and captivating landscapes of the Arctic.

Archaeological works are being carried out in the Crypt of the Collegiate Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kłodzko as part of its renovation. A few days ago, researchers recovered the remains of Arnau of Pardubice (1297–1364), an eminent clergyman who is believed to have originated from Kłodzko.
Dr inż. Piotr Kryczka from the Department of Socio-Economic Geography at the University of Wrocław was a guest on Herbatka z naukowcem on Radio Rodzina. The discussion focused on integrated planning – how to reconcile the visions of urban planners with residents’ needs and the challenges of sustainable development.
Adam Mickiewicz Secondary School No. III in Wrocław and the University of Wrocław are beginning an official cooperation, which will open new possibilities for students’ development. It is yet another proof that science and education go hand in hand in our city, and that the academic potential of the university connects with the passion and ambition of youth.
