UL: Popularisation of science

On Thursday, Rector prof. Robert Olkiewicz met with the Minister of Science and Higher Education’s scholarship holders: dr Paweł Kaczmarski-Koronkiewicz and dr Michał Marczenko, to discuss their academic plans and more.

The Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Wrocław has just hosted the eleventh international conference of the Polish Society for Human and Evolution Studies (PTNCE) — a unique event that brought together researchers, experts and enthusiasts from around the globe.

On September 25, at 11 a.m., a seminar summarising the project “Alma Mater Leopoliensis. History of Lviv humanities 1661-1946” will take place at the Library of the University of Wrocław. Among those who participated in this landmark event were staff members from the UWr Institute of Polish Studies, the Library of the University of Wrocław, and Polish and Ukrainian archivists and researchers.

A scientific conference organised under the auspices of the European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) entitled ‘DNA Topology and Topoisomerases in Genome Dynamics’ has concluded in Szklarska Poręba.

For the twenty-seventh time, during the Lower Silesian Science Festival, the ‘Physical Circus’ at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy captivated enthusiasts of science and spectacular experiments.

The Library of the University of Wrocław just implemented the state-of-the-art Alma system and began co-cataloguing with the National Library of Poland. The cooperation within the nationwide librarian network, made possible due to unified rules of cataloguing, benefits both librarians, who may now manage the collections more efficiently, and readers, who gain broader, quicker and more transparent access to the information.

The Lower Silesian Science Festival at the University of Wrocław is an event full of scientific surprises. This year, the Faculty of Chemistry took participants into the world of experiments. Although they looked like magic, they were based on the hard laws of science.

Na Uniwersytecie w Segedynie na Węgrzech, zakończyło się wydarzenie „Urban Post-COVID Recovery in the V4 Countries: Towards Effective Sectoral Policies?”. Zgromadziło badaczy i praktyków zajmujących się problematyką funkcjonowania samorządów miejskich w warunkach odbudowy po pandemii COVID-19. Wzięli w również udział naukowcy z Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego.

In September, the Institute of German Studies at the University of Wrocław hosted the tenth anniversary edition of the three-day international academic conference series ‘Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław’.

On Tuesday 16 September, the Lower Silesian Congress of Young Explorers will begin – a unique two-day event aimed at secondary school pupils with an interest in mathematics, computer science and artificial intelligence.

Prof. Michał Tomczak from the University of Wrocław’s Institute of Astronomy was elected the new president of the Polish Astronomical Society.

The Department of Renaissance and Reformation Art History at the Institute of Art History of the University of Wrocław, is organising, from 22 to 27 September 2025 in Gdańsk, the Polish-German Seminar Wrocław–Halle–Siegen “Religion and Art in Multi-Ethnic and Multi-Confessional Gdańsk in the Early Modern Period”. The participants in this event, prepared in cooperation with Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the University of Siegen, will include scholars, doctoral candidates and students of art history, Protestant and Catholic theology and church history from the institutions named above.
