UL: Scientific lectures and research

On Wednesday, 10 December, during a session of the Kraków City Council, representatives of the scientific community received the Nicolaus Copernicus Scientific Awards. Among the honoured scientists were three from the University of Wrocław!

In early December, the Doctrine and Training Centre of the Polish Armed Forces, together with the University of Wrocław, organised a scientific seminar titled “National Security in the Context of Social Transformations and Urbanization Challenges – an Interdisciplinary Diagnosis and Perspectives”.

On Friday, 5 December, a special event entitled “Nauka na Fali – GeoArctic Expedition 2025” was held in the Professor A. Mycielski Lecture Hall at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław. The meeting brought together nearly 300 secondary school pupils, university students, academic staff, and enthusiasts of sailing and science. Through a premiere screening of documentary films, participants were transported to the harsh and captivating landscapes of the Arctic.

On Friday, 16 January 2026, the 15th edition of the nationwide “Biologists’ Night” event will take place under the slogan: „Biologia pełna sygnałów – odkryj jak mówi życie”.

We are proud to announce that the project Spektroskopowe markery prebiotyczne i fotochemiczna ewolucja w astromikrośrodowiskach gaz–lód has received funding of PLN 2,430,240 in the NCN SHENG 4 competition. On the Polish side, the project is led by prof. dr Małgorzata Biczysko, and carried out by the Molecular Spectroscopy and Photochemistry Group, consisting of dr Justyna Krupa, dr Magdalena Pagacz-Kostrzewa, dr hab. Magdalena Sałdyka and dr Karolina Mucha. The Chinese partners are researchers from Chongqing University, headed by prof. Qian Gou.

On Tuesday, 2 December, we invite all physics enthusiasts to attend a lecture by prof. Karol Życzkowski from Jagiellonian University, entitled: „Przeglądając się w zakurzonej szybie… Determinizm w mechanice klasycznej i kwantowej”. 

In December, the University of Wrocław, together with the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces and the Doctrine and Training Centre of the Polish Armed Forces, will organise a scientific seminar entitled Bezpieczeństwo narodowe w kontekście przemian społecznych i wyzwań urbanizacyjnych: interdyscyplinarna diagnoza i perspektywy.

The staff of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Wrocław invite you on 12 December at 9:00 a.m. to the faculty premises for the Second University Conference “Artificial Intelligence ∀” – DUK AI∀.

By decision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the strategic importance of ACTRIS for science and public policy has been confirmed: from the high quality of the research conducted, through open access to data, to support for innovation in the fields of air quality and climate change adaptation. As a result, ACTRIS maintains its position on the Polish Research Infrastructure Map as a nationwide infrastructure for aerosol, cloud and trace gas research.

The University Library in Wrocław invites you on 25 November at 2.15 p.m. to conference room no. 3 of the Library of the University of Wrocław (BUWr) for the first lecture in the new series Colloquia Bibliologa Wratislaviensia, dedicated to the history of the early book, manuscripts, writing culture, and libraries. Registration is required.

Preparations are currently underway in the Botanical Garden of the University of Wrocław for the creation of a new tourist attraction and additional research facilities. But what were archaeologists doing on the grounds of the Botanical Garden?

Archaeological works are being carried out in the Crypt of the Collegiate Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kłodzko as part of its renovation. A few days ago, researchers recovered the remains of Arnau of Pardubice (1297–1364), an eminent clergyman who is believed to have originated from Kłodzko.
