UL: Scientific lectures and research

From 24 to 29 August 2025, the University of Wrocław will host a prestigious international event, a combined conference of EUCMOS (European Congress on Molecular Spectroscopy) and EMPOC (European Meeting on Physical Organic Chemistry).

People who meet their partners on the internet may experience lower marital satisfaction and feel love less intensely than those who meet in person. At least, that is what emerges from research conducted by an international team of scientists led by dr Marta Kowal from the UWr Institute of Psychology.

The Department of Human Biology is carrying out another project under the direction of prof. Bogusław Pawłowski, focusing on the signalling significance of traits linked to male sex hormone levels. This time, however, the study group consists of men aged 50 and over. To collect the data required for the project funded by the National Science Centre (OPUS21) – “Kondycja biologiczna mężczyzn w średnim wieku jako wskaźnik zdolności organizmu do poniesienia fizjologicznych kosztów maskulinizacji” – a questionnaire has been prepared for people aged 18+, containing several questions concerning assessments of presented male faces.

As part of the University Career Festival, the 10th edition of #BEZPIECZNIE UWr 2025 will take place. It is a training and educational conference held at the University of Wrocław since 2016, raising awareness of various types of threats. Education and prevention are key to ensuring safety for yourself and others. Luis Alonso is a researcher at the City Science Group and the project lead of the Andorra Living Lab at the MIT Media Lab. Holding a PhD in architecture, he coordinates urban innovation initiatives within the City Science Network, integrating energy modelling, urban simulation, mobility, innovation districts, and smart housing to develop human-scale ecosystems.

The Department of Translation Studies at the Institute of Romance Studies of the Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, cordially invites you to attend lectures by Mr Marcos Randulfe, visiting the University of Wrocław under the “Visiting Professors” initiative of the IDUB programme. The lectures, delivered in Spanish, will be simultaneously interpreted into Polish.
