UL: Studies and Students

With the opening of the Online Candidate Registration System, recruitment for postgraduate studies at the University of Wrocław has also begun! In particular, we recommend the Postgraduate Studies in Specialised English, which are conducted at the Institute of English Studies at the University of Wrocław. We invite all those interested with a good command of English (not necessarily philologists!) to take advantage of the SPAJS offer.

As early as this summer, an ethnomusicological expedition will set off for Madagascar to investigate not only local music and customs, but also to listen to screaming lemurs and try to find traces of certain penguins. The activities of the research group can be followed and supported on the website of the Institute of Musicology of the University of Wrocław and the fb page of the Institute of Musicology UWr.

    Musicologists’ expedition to Madagascar

On May 16 and June 6, 2024, students of the UWr College for Interdisciplinary Individual Studies visited the Department of Molecular Microbiology of the University of Wrocław, where they learned about research methodologies that were new to them during a specialized microbiology workshop organized by prof. Gabriela Bugla-Płoskońska, and led by dr Katarzyna Guz-Regner and her assistants, Julia Śledzińska and Klaudia Grodzicka.

    Student Scientific Associations Exchange

Thursday, 25 April 2024, marked the end of a series of workshops on the origins of the manuscript book and writing offered to students as part of the BEYOND LANGUAGE course. During the first two meetings, mgr Dawid Kuriański and dr Adam Poznański from the Manuscripts Department of the University Library in Wrocław, introduced the students of the MSI College to the fascinating origins and dynamic changes in writing over the past centuries. Writing itself, and even more so the written and printed book, are groundbreaking, albeit relatively ‘new’ inventions in the history of cultural and linguistic development.
