We are pleased to announce that prof. Marta Osypińska from the Institute of Archaeology at the University of Wrocław has signed a cooperation agreement with the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI), concerning the implementation of the first Polish archaeological project in Tanzania’s history.
The University of Wrocław has been selected by the Polish Space Agency (POLSA) as one of two Polish universities that will conduct a live connection with the International Space Station (ISS). Our University has defeated multiple academic centres in prestigious eliminations, winning recognition for its involvement in science popularisation and educational activity.
From 22 April to 7 May 2025, eight students of Spatial Management from the Institute of Geography and Regional Development at the University of Wrocław are taking part in a study visit to Tsinghua University in Beijing – ranked the best university in China according to the Shanghai Ranking, and 22nd globally.
The University of Wrocław had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from Montenegro, led by dr Tamara Vujović, Minister of Culture and Media. The highest-ranked discipline at the University of Wrocław in the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2025, published in March, is Linguistics. The UWr was placed among the top 301–350 universities worldwide in this discipline. In the broader category of Arts & Humanities, which includes linguistics, the university moved up to the 401–450 range. The university also achieved strong positions in the natural sciences: Physics and Astronomy ranked 451–500, Mathematics 501–600, and Chemistry 551–600.
On Thursday, 27 February 2025, prof. Robert Olkiewicz, rector of the University of Wrocław, received a delegation from the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, led by prof. Erik Jones, director of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Research within the EUI. The meeting was also attended by Joanna Wielgo, manager of EUI-funded projects, and, on the UWr side, dr Łukasz Prus, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs; prof Magdalena Ratajczak, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; prof. Piotr Sula, vice-dean for internationalisation of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Urszula Broda, head of the International Office; and Tomasz Woźniakowski, assistant professor at the Institute of Political Science, local coordinator of the event.
The University of Wrocław became a part of the Artificial Intelligence Cluster. On 20 February, an agreement was signed on the establishment of the Wrocław cluster, whose mission is to enable and accelerate the implementation of artificial intelligence in economic, educational and social activities and to promote research and innovation in AI.
The Minister’s Lifetime Achievement Award is an individual award that enjoys great prestige in the community. It is a recognition of the laureate’s achievements, which have left a measurable and recognisable contribution to science. Prof. Krzysztof Redlich received the award at the Polish Science Gala in Toruń on 19 February. Our sincere congratulations!
