City scholarships for the best students!

During the Festival of Science in Wrocław on Friday, 14 November, the official list of awardees of the municipal Student Scholarship Programme was announced.

At the Aula Leopoldina, during the formal sitting of KRUWiO, representatives of the individual scholarship categories received their diplomas from the Deputy Mayor, Ryszard Kessler, and Tomasz Janoś, Director of the Wrocław Academic Centre.

The laureates of the Max Born Scholarship were represented by our doctoral student Kacper Prokop, and the laureates of the Wincenty Styś Scholarship by doctoral student Kacper Rosner-Leszczyński.

On the basis of the resolution of the Wrocław City Council of 10 April 2025 on the rules and amounts of scholarships for students and doctoral candidates under the Student Scholarship Programme, the Mayor of Wrocław awarded scholarships to doctoral candidates who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in fields important for the development of Wrocław.

Among the awardees from our University were:

  • Mikołaj Domagalski (Ludwik Hirszfeld Scholarship in the field of biological and medical sciences / distinction)
  • Piotr Błaszkiewicz (Hugo Steinhaus Scholarship in mathematical sciences, supervisor: prof. Piotr Kowalski)
  • Maciej Tadej (Hugo Steinhaus Scholarship in mathematical sciences / distinction, supervisor: prof. Grzegorz Karch)
  • Tomasz Żuchowski (Hugo Steinhaus Scholarship in mathematical sciences / distinction, supervisor: dr hab. Piotr Borodulin-Nadzieja, prof. UWr)
  • Kacper Prokop (Max Born Scholarship in physical and chemical sciences, supervisor: dr hab. Małgorzata Guzik, prof. UWr)

  • Błażej Cieślik (Alfred Jahn Scholarship in Earth and environmental sciences / distinction, supervisor: dr hab. Jakub Kierwczak, prof. UWr)
  • Hubert Mazurek (Alfred Jahn Scholarship in Earth and environmental sciences / distinction, supervisor: dr hab. Magdalena Matusiak-Małek, prof. UWr)
  • Zofia Owczarek (Alfred Jahn Scholarship in Earth and environmental sciences / distinction, supervisor: prof. Mateusz Strzelecki)

Scholarships for doctoral candidates are awarded for outstanding achievements in fields of knowledge corresponding to one of eight scholarship categories.

In this edition, a total of 147 applications were submitted. The committees awarded 24 scholarships and 19 distinctions. The programme is run by the Wrocław Academic Centre.

Each scholarship holder will receive 2,000 PLN per month for nine months (from October to June). A total of 432,000 PLN has been allocated for this edition. A recording of the ceremony is available on the webpage: Festival of Science Day in Wrocław
