
Concert at the Oratorium Marianum
On January 12, at 6:30 p.m., prominent pianist Eric Lu will perform at the next recital in the Chopin Recitals concert series at the Oratorium Marianum hall of the University of Wrocław. The American artist is a laureate of the 17th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw and winner of the 19th Leeds International Piano Competition.
Eric Lu has won the hearts and admiration of audiences around the world with his passionate yet thoughtful and sensitive music-making. He is highly regarded by significant music critics:

In 2019, he signed an exclusive contract with Warner Classics and has since worked with some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Lille, Finnish Radio Symphony, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Tokyo Symphony, Shanghai Symphony at the BBC Proms.
Eric’s third CD on Warner Classics was released in December 2022 and includes Schubert sonatas D. 959 and 784. It was received with worldwide critical acclaim, being named “Instrumental Choice” by BBC Music Magazine, which wrote: “Lu’s place among contemporary Schubert performers is confirmed.” His previous CD of Chopin’s 24 preludes and Schumann’s Geistervariationen was considered “truly magical” by International Piano.
Eric Lu was born in Massachusetts in 1997. He first came to international attention as In 2017 he was awarded the International Piano Prize in Germany, and in 2021 he received the Avery Fisher Career Grant. Eric was the BBC’s New Generation Artist for 2019-22. He is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied under Robert McDonald and Jonathan Biss. He was also a student of Dang Thai Son.
The recital program will feature masterpieces of piano music by Frederic Chopin.
