Conference “Intercultural and interdisciplinary in phraseology and paremiology”

On 23-25 March 2023 in the Institute of German Studies at the University of Wrocław took place 4th international scientific conference on phraseology and paremiology: „Interkulturelles und Interdisziplinäres in der Phraseologie und Parömiologie“ (Intercultural and interdisciplinary in phraseology and paremiology). The conference was co-organized with Europejskie Towarzystwo Frazeologiczne (Europhras. Patronat) and Institute of Slavonic Studies at Leipzig University. The conference will be held under the patronage of Komisja Frazeologiczna Instytutu Językoznawstwa PAN (Phraseological Committee of Institute of Linguistics PAN) and International Association of Paremiology.

Over 60 scientists from 13 countries took part in the conference (Poland, Germany, Austria, USA, Greece, Denmark, Kosovo, Czech Republic, Spain, Bulgaria, Italy, Uzbekistan, Netherlands). Participants presented over 30 research facilities in the world. There were 7 plenary lectures, 43 papers in four discussion panels in 12 thematic sections. Sessions were held in German, English and Polish.

Plenary lectures  were given by world-class specialists with recognized scientific achievements in the field of phraseology and paremiology: prof. Wolfgang Mieder, University of Vermont, USA, prof. Natalia Filatkina, University of Hamburg, Germany, prof. Wolfgang Eismann, University of Graz, Austria, prof. Csaba Földes, University of Erfurt, Germany, prof. Marios Chrissou, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, prof. Maciej Rak, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland.

During the conference participants had the opportunity to visit the Main Building of University of Wrocław accompanied by a tour guide.
