Cooperation agreement within the Artificial Intelligence Cluster
The University of Wrocław became a part of the Artificial Intelligence Cluster. On 20 February, an agreement was signed on the establishment of the Wrocław cluster, whose mission is to enable and accelerate the implementation of artificial intelligence in economic, educational and social activities and to promote research and innovation in AI.
Joint advertising and marketing activities, developing and consolidating the Cluster’s good brand, building the prestige of its members and promoting its achievements – this is just one of the objectives of the agreement concluded. The main objective is to support the company in obtaining funding for groundbreaking projects and their implementation so as to increase their competitiveness on the local, national and international markets.
The initiator and coordinator of activities on the part of the University of Wrocław (UWr) in cooperation with the AI Cluster is the UWr Centre for Security Studies and Education led by prof. Barbara Wiśniewska-Paź.
The tools for achieving the goals are to become, among others, research and implementation teams that design and implement technologically advanced solutions. And this is where our university sees its role, in its enormous potential in the form of scientific and research staff, doctoral students and students.
The first joint venture is a large conference event on 12-13.06 2025 prepared by the UWr Centre for Security Studies and Education in cooperation with the UWr Virtual Reality Transfer Centre and, among others, one of the external entities of the AI Cluster. It will address the development of technology and AI from the point of view of the subject of these changes – human beings and society (social, legal, ethical, development and security aspects).
The UWr Technology Transfer Centre has also been invited to the initial preparations. In the organisation of the event, the participation of UWr faculties involved in the issues, such as the UWr Faculty of Social Sciences, the UWr Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics or the UWr Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as other entities representing universities in Poland and the space of technology, security and business, will be important.
The development of competences and knowledge in the field of AI through education and training programmes for pupils, students, researchers and entrepreneurs – this is also an objective of the joint activity.
– It is very important to support and promote the ethical aspects of the use of AI. Initiating debates and co-creating codes of ethics for the AI sector to ensure responsible development of the technology – emphasises prof. Barbara Wiśniewska-Paź.
The Artificial Intelligence Cluster cooperation agreement was signed by UWr Rector prof. Robert Olkiewicz and Sławomir Lasota, CEO of AI Cluster.
