CYMELIADA 2025 – Your first steps in the UWr Library!
Are you starting your studies at the University of Wrocław? Before you head to your lectures, take a moment to get to know the place that will become the heart of your academic journey – the Library of the University of Wrocław. Here you’ll find a space for studying, inspiration, relaxation, and discovering knowledge in all its forms.
Cymeliada 2025 is the second edition of a unique initiative aimed at first-year students, which has already gained great popularity among visitors. The event helps new users of the Library get acquainted with its resources, services, and the friendly team that supports students in their daily academic work.
From 27–29 October and 4–6 November 2025, we invite you to take part in Cymeliada – a series of meetings, tours, and presentations designed to help you find your way around the University Library. During the event, you’ll learn how to use the PRIMO catalogue, how to register as a library user, borrow and renew books, and access electronic resources remotely via a proxy account.
We’ll take you on a tour of our reading rooms, study and relaxation zones, and the self-service café Café Kwerenda, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee while studying or unwinding in a calm atmosphere. You’ll also see how our modern solutions work – including self-check machines for borrowing books and the 24-hour book drop.
One of the most eagerly anticipated highlights of the programme will be a presentation in the Special Collections Reading Room, where we’ll showcase early printed books, manuscripts, and other cymelia – priceless items that are rarely accessible to the public. This is a unique opportunity to see the Library’s greatest treasures up close.
Of course, no Cymeliada would be complete without meeting Cymeliusz – the friendly spirit of the Library, who greets readers with humour and warmth. Take a souvenir photo with him and start your studies with a smile!
Cymeliada is not just about practical information – it’s also a chance to meet the people who make the Library what it is: our librarians and fellow students. It’s the first step on your academic journey – one worth taking with curiosity and enthusiasm.
