Donation point for Turkey at the Faculty of Social Sciences

At the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Wrocław, on the initiative of the Welcome Center and the dean’s office, a collection point for Turkish citizens affected by the recent earthquakes was set up in collaboration with the Turkish Embassy in Warsaw. It is open from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Blankets, sleeping bags, tents, gas heaters and portable toilets are urgently needed. The list will be updated as needed.

The point is located at the WNS campus at ul. Koszarowa 3 (next to the hospital), in building 21 – the premises of the Institute of International Studies and the Department of European Studies. Katarzyna Kvapilikova from the Welcome Center, who is responsible for day-to-day cooperation with and integration of foreign students, is the contact person for telephone information during collection hours (tel. 881 398 927).

We would like to add that the Faculty of Social Sciences has several hundred students from all over the world studying first-cycle and second-cycle and a number of international programmes, including but not limited to: Erasmus+, Erasmus Mundus and Double Degree programmes. The Welcome Center, established as a project of the National Academic Exchange Agency, coordinates international projects at the Faculty, cooperation with students and organises numerous initiatives, including student support and assistance actions.

As vice-dean for international cooperation, dr hab. Magdalena Ratajczak, prof. UWr notes, we are keen to integrate foreign students with students from Poland. At UWr we are creating a kind of international student space. Many of our students come from Turkey or have friends and relatives there. We do not want to be indifferent to their tragedy and that is why, albeit in such a small way, we want to help and support them.

The project “Integrated Program for the Development of the University of Wrocław 2018-2022” co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund
