Dr hab. Cezary Wąs is a finalist of a humanistic book contest

Dr hab. Cezary Wąs’s book „Cień Boga w ogrodzie filozofa. Parc de La Villette w Paryżu w kontekście filozofii chôry” [“The Shadow of God in the Philosopher’s Garden. The Parc de La Villette in Paris in the context of the philosophy of chôra”] published by Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego [University of Wrocław Press] and submitted to the contest by Institute of Art History, Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences of the University of Wrocław is one of the finalist works which will compete for the title of the best humanistic work published in Poland in 2021 in the VIII Edition of the Memorial Prize of the first Rector of the University of Lodz Professor Tadeusz Kotarbiński.

During the meeting on 3 November 2022, Competition Jury chose five best humanistic books out of 61 submitted works. The Competition Jury declared that the following books have reached the finals of the VIII edition of the contest:

  • dr Maria Ferenc “Każdy pyta, co z nami będzie”. Mieszkańcy getta warszawskiego wobec wiadomości o wojnie i Zagładzie [‘Everyone asks what will become of us’. Inhabitants of the Warsaw ghetto in the face of the news about war and the Holocaust], published and submitted by the Jewish Historical Institute,
  • dr hab. Agnieszka Gajewska „Stanisław Lem. Wypędzony z wysokiego zamku. Biografia” [„Stanisław Lem. Exiled from the high castle. A Biography.”], published by Literary Press, submitted by Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology of the Adam Mickiewicz University,
  • dr hab. Magdalena Koźluk „Pierre Jacquelot: L’Art de vivre longuement sous le nom de Medee” published by Classiques Garnier, submitted by Faculty of Philology, University of Lodz,
  • dr Maciej Świerkocki „Łódź Ulissesa”, published by Wydawnictwo Officyna [Officyna Press], submitted by the Department of British Literature and Culture of the University of Lodz,
  • dr hab. Cezary Wąs „Cień Boga w ogrodzie filozofa. Parc de La Villette w Paryżu w kontekście filozofii chôry” [“The Shadow of God in the Philosopher’s Garden. The Parc de La Villette in Paris in the context of the philosophy of chôra”] published by Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego [University of Wrocław Press], submitted to the contest by Institute of Art History, Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences of the University of Wrocław.

The author of the best out of the five final works will receive PLN 50,000 for further academic development. The gala awards ceremony will take place on 29 January 2023 in the Filharmonia Łódzka.
