Dr Sandra Koziel with an award

Dr Sandra Kozieł from the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Wrocław was recognised by Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti in the ‘Innovation in Biotechnology’ category during DemoDay organised by Colorado State University. The award was accepted on her behalf by dr hab. Urszula Komarnicka. The award-winning achievement is the subject of a patent currently in preparation between the UWr and Colorado State University, whose authors are: Sandra Kozieł, Urszula Komarnicka, Andrew Bates, Skyler Markham and Debbie C. Crans.

The invention was a new group of biologically active vanadium compounds with potential anti-cancer and anti-diabetic properties.

The trip of dr hab. Urszula Komarnicka was financed by IDUB – Initiative for Excellence – Research University.
